ARCHIVENewsletter XThird Grade Teacher Ashley CollinsAshley graduated in 1992 from St. Michael’s College in Vermont with a Master’s Degree in Education. Since then, she has taught overseas in Kathmandu, Nepal and English at the French American International School in Portland. She started teaching at CSS in 2000; first, second and now third grade. Teaching in a constructivist environment fits well with how I believe children learn best. At CSS, children have the opportunity to explore themes in depth, and enhance their learning in small and whole group settings. The curriculum includes units such as Africa, Ocean Environs, Geology, Animal Habitats, Botany, City of Portland and more. The Scottish Storyline Method of Instruction is used throughout the year. I feel fortunate to work with a team of teachers and parents that are committed to our success at CSS. |
