CSS Second Grade Newsletter 1![]() Thank you 2nd grade parents for your encouragement and support. I feel very lucky to be your childrens’ teacher. I look forward the coming year that will be filled with wonderful opportunities for teaching and learning. Beginning in October, I will have a volunteer calendar up and would love for parents to come in and volunteer in the classroom. I am waiting until October because that will give the students and I time to establish ground rules and classroom expectations. It also gives us time to get to know one another and develop classroom communication routines. We will be studying habitats and will be setting up our terrariums soon. In October, we will begin our Storyline on Owls and the Northwest Forests. If there is anything that you might want to contribute to this storyline or you have an interest in forests or know some great resources or even want to help out on field trips, let me know. SCHEDULEI have attached our schedule so you will know what days our specials are and what time our lunch is. Please remember to have students wear tennis shoes on Thursdays & Fridays. We will have snack everyday so please pack your students a healthy snack. We have to keep their growing minds and bodies fueled with energy. Thank you! hOMEWORKI will start sending out homework folders next Friday. Homework will go out on Fridays and will be due back the following Friday. Until then please have students read twenty minutes every night. SUPPLIESThank you for all the school supplies. They will be shared as community supplies as a class. I am sure many of you were wondering about the baby wipes. The teachers that were going to teach this year made the supply list and the list was sent out before I could change it. I too wonder about the baby wipes. I guess we will have to be creative and think up ways to utilize the baby wipes. There were two things that I was going to add to the list that I would really like to have in the classroom. I need a plastic magazine holder (black) for every student and I would like a composition notebook for each student too. The magazine holder would be used to hold their books, writer’s notebook, and their reader’s notebook. The composition book would be their writer’s notebook. I know you have spent quite a bit on school supplies already so what ever you can do will great. I really appreciate it. If you have any questions or want to share something about your child with me that will help me get to know them better please give me a call me at 503-916-6336 or e-mail me at Btmiller73@yahoo.com |
