The town’s frieze is really taking shape and we now have an interesting group of citizens populating it. Stop by and take a look. In The Captain’s Dog the Lewis & Clark Expedition is just entering the Rocky Mountains. As we read the students reflect upon how the journey affects the members of the corps of discovery. They also look to relate the story to their own lives and experiences. We started Spanish in all the CSS classrooms. This weekly class is paid for by your auction dollars and organized by parents, Thank You. This week I passed out the Homework folders to each student. Along with the folder is an Assignment Calendar to help keep track of their work and other important dates. If you haven’t seen it yet ask your child to show you theirs. OCTOBER BOOK REVIEWSThe focus of this month’s review is Biographies (or autobiographies). Students are to select a biography, read it and prepare a review that covers both the book and the person the book was about. I have given each child a planning page to help them think about their reviews. The planning page also encourages them to dress as the person from their book, become that person, for the presentations on October 31st. FIELD TRIPSThursday October 20th we are going on an all day field trip to the Salmon River at Wildwood. Permission slips went home this week and many students have already returned them. We have a full complement of drivers, thank you parents. Remember if you are accompanying us you must have a current background check and to transport students we also need a copy of your auto insurance on file. Quite a few families have taken the Chinook Book to sell in order to raise money for our end of the year field trip. It is an environmentally friendly coupon book; let me know if you would like to participate in the sales. WISH LISTI could use the following items in the classroom;
