CLASS NEWS

Our new Storyline takes place in a yet to be named towne in New England during the late 1700’s. We are looking at a variety of materials to get an idea of life in those times and create our own towne based on what we find out. To help fill in the picture the students are also reading historical fiction novels set in the American Colonial era for their Literature Circles. Ask you child what they know and/or think about life back then.

If you have any particular items, ideas or expertise on that era please let me know and I’ll work with you to share it with the class.

In Math we are studying patterns. Number patterns, tile patterns and patterns of activities. The students are learning ways to record and graph those patterns and try to find “rules” or formulas to describe the patterns.

! AUCTION !

The CSS auction is set for March 11, 2006 and it’s time to start work on our class basket and project. Carolee is coordinating the basket and she wants ideas for a theme. Kimberly is leading the project and we need a little money for materials. I’ll help collect donations, checks can be made out to Bridger School, or bring in cash.

TESTING

We wrapped up our first round of testing this week. Over the next months the students will take a few more tests in math, science and reading. Part of the change to computer testing (TESA) is that it allows students to take a test more than once and use their best score.
